Stop every major AI from training on your conversations.

Training is how today's private chat becomes tomorrow's model behavior. Every major consumer AI has an off switch — most are buried, none are default-off everywhere. Flip all six in fifteen minutes.

Settings paths verified July 2026; providers relocate these regularly. If a path is stale, search the provider's help center for "model training."

Opting out ≠ un-training

These switches stop future use. For data already used, your remedies are the formal erasure/objection request and output suppression. For stopping AI from scraping your website, images and public business data in the first place, see blockaitraining.com — robots.txt directives, bot lists, and copyright levers.

Or restructure

The workspace approach.

If you'd rather not manage six vendors' privacy dashboards forever, consolidating into one workspace shrinks the surface area: one account, one privacy posture, one place to audit. Swiss-made MultipleChat AI runs the major models inside a private workspace — conversations and files stay in your account unless you share them, with enterprise options for data isolation and EU/Swiss residency. One privacy checklist instead of six.

Training data sources

What can feed AI training besides obvious chat messages.

Users often turn off the main switch and miss the other pipes. Check each of these if you care about serious privacy.

Chats

Prompts and replies

The obvious source: your questions, uploaded text, generated answers, feedback ratings and follow-up corrections.

Files

Documents and images

PDFs, screenshots, spreadsheets, voice transcripts and images can be more sensitive than the prompt itself.

Feedback

Thumbs up, thumbs down, reports

Manual feedback often goes to evaluation and quality pipelines. It can include the original prompt and context.

Public data

Posts, pages and profiles

Social posts, websites and public profiles can be used through separate crawler or platform policies, not the chatbot toggle.

Human review

Sampled conversations

Some providers review samples for safety and quality. Review retention may differ from ordinary account history.

Integrations

Connectors and workplace data

Email, Drive, Slack, Teams or CRM connectors may have separate retention and admin rules. Consumer settings may not govern them.

Audit workflow

Run this once for every AI account you use.

  1. List every account.Include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, Perplexity, Poe, browser extensions, mobile apps and any workplace AI tools.
  2. Find the model-improvement switch.Search settings for "training", "model improvement", "data controls", "activity", "personalization" and "privacy".
  3. Delete old activity you do not need.Turning training off protects future use. Delete old chats, files and activity separately.
  4. Record the state. For business or legal safety, keep a dated screenshot of the setting after you turn it off.
  5. Set a calendar reminder.Providers move settings and change defaults. Re-audit quarterly or whenever a service announces new AI features.

FAQ

Training opt-out questions.

Does opting out delete what was already trained?

No. Opt-outs are forward-looking — they stop new conversations from entering training. Data already absorbed into model weights stays; for that, file a formal request and rely on output suppression. This is the single most misunderstood fact in AI privacy.

Will opting out make my AI worse?

No. Your personal responses don't depend on your data being in the communal training pot. Memory/personalization (a separate setting) is what tailors answers to you.

Do business and API accounts need to opt out?

Generally no — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Microsoft do not train on API, Enterprise or business-tier customer content by default. It's consumer apps where you must flip the switch.

Can I stop AI companies scraping my website too?

That's a different tap — crawler blocking via robots.txt and headers. Our sister site blockaitraining.com covers it in depth, including per-bot directives.
